Discover Dominica
Dominica is known as the "Nature Isle of the Caribbean" and it earns that name! Unlike most Caribbean islands, Dominica isn't about beaches and resorts - it's a wild, volcanic paradise of towering rainforests, bubbling hot springs, rushing waterfalls, and exotic wildlife. The island is so rugged and green that it was one of the few Caribbean islands Christopher Columbus would still recognise today!
The most extraordinary sight is the Boiling Lake - a flooded fumarole filled with bubbling, greyish-blue water kept constantly boiling by volcanic gases. It's the second-largest thermally active lake in the world! The island has 365 rivers (one for every day of the year), magnificent waterfalls like Trafalgar Falls, and the only remaining Kalinago (Carib) indigenous territory in the Caribbean. Sperm whales live in the waters around Dominica year-round and whale-watching is world-class. Roseau, the capital, is a small, colourful town full of character. Dominica's resilient people take pride in their lush island, showing that the Caribbean has much more to offer than just sunbeds and cocktails!
