Child Safeguarding and Online Safety Policy

1. Our Commitments

CDKW will:

• Put the safety and best interests of children first
• Use data minimisation and access controls for children's information
• Provide age-appropriate educational content and a route to report concerns
• Require professional boundaries from adults who use or support the service
• Act promptly and proportionately when a safeguarding, privacy or online-safety concern is reported

2. Safer Platform Design

Account and Access Controls

• School users have separate student, teacher and school administrator roles
• Students join teacher-managed classes using a class code or an approved school sign-in process
• Students cannot access teacher administration areas
• Teachers and school administrators manage membership within the access granted to their school or class
• Accounts and class codes must not be shared. Suspected account compromise should be reported promptly

Content and Interactions

The platform does not provide public child-to-child messaging, public comments or open social features. CDKW does not have staff in direct or physical contact with students. Schools remain responsible for the supervision of students in their care while the service is used.

Some learning experiences include AI Band Member Chat. It is an educational feature, not a trusted adult, counsellor or emergency service. Students should not provide sensitive or unnecessary personal information, and schools should supervise its use in line with their own safeguarding and acceptable-use procedures.

Third-party links and embedded material are subject to the third party's controls. Schools should apply their own filtering and supervision requirements before using external resources in class.

3. Responsibilities

CDKW

CDKW maintains this policy, provides a reporting route, restricts or suspends access where necessary, keeps reported information access-controlled, and reviews product controls and incidents to improve the service.

Schools and Teachers

Participating schools remain responsible for safeguarding children in their care. They should obtain any required permissions, supervise platform use, apply school device and internet controls, manage access for staff and students, and notify CDKW about serious suspected misuse, harmful content, account compromise or online-safety concerns.

Students

Students should follow their school's online-safety rules, keep passwords and class codes private, avoid sharing personal information, and tell a trusted adult if something makes them feel unsafe, worried or uncomfortable.

4. Reporting a Concern

For an immediate concern, students and families should contact their school's safeguarding lead. If a child is in immediate danger, contact local emergency services or the relevant child-protection authority first.

Schools, families and users can report a CDKW-related safeguarding, privacy or online-safety concern to hello@candokidsworldwide.com with the subject line Urgent safeguarding concern. Include only the information needed to understand the concern. Do not circulate material involving a child or investigate an alleged incident yourself.

5. Our Response

CDKW will securely record the report, assess immediate risk, take proportionate protective action, notify the school or relevant authority where appropriate or required, preserve relevant information, and limit access to those who need it to protect a child or meet a legal obligation.

6. Privacy and Retention

CDKW applies data minimisation, purpose limitation and access controls to children's information. Personal information is handled under our Privacy Policy. Safeguarding reports are held securely and only for as long as needed for safeguarding, legal, regulatory or accountability purposes.
