Discover Bolivia
Bolivia is a landlocked South American country of dramatic contrasts and indigenous heritage! The country sits high in the Andes Mountains - La Paz, the administrative capital, is the world's highest capital city at over 11,000 feet elevation. The Uyuni Salt Flats are one of Earth's most surreal landscapes: a vast white expanse that creates perfect mirror reflections when covered with water, making it look like you're walking on clouds!
Lake Titicaca, shared with Peru, is the world's highest navigable lake and home to indigenous communities who live on floating reed islands. Bolivia has the largest proportion of indigenous people in South America, with rich Aymara and Quechua cultures maintaining ancient traditions, colorful textiles, and unique festivals. The Yungas valleys descend from snowy peaks to Amazon rainforest, showcasing incredible biodiversity. Bolivian culture celebrates Pachamama (Mother Earth) and community over individualism. From the colorful markets selling alpaca wool to traditional pan flute music, Bolivia teaches us about respecting indigenous wisdom and living at incredible altitudes!
