Discover Caribbean
The Caribbean is an island paradise scattered across sparkling blue waters in the Atlantic Ocean and Caribbean Sea! Picture over 7,000 islands with white-sand beaches, crystal-clear turquoise water, and lush tropical vegetation. Major islands like Jamaica, Cuba, Haiti, Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, and the Bahamas each have their own unique personality and culture. The water is warm year-round, perfect for swimming, snorkeling to see colorful fish and coral reefs, and diving to explore shipwrecks. The Caribbean is home to the world's second-largest coral reef system, filled with amazing sea creatures. Reggae music originated in Jamaica and is played everywhere—Bob Marley is a legendary musician from Jamaica whose music is loved worldwide! Calypso, steel drums, and salsa music create an atmosphere of celebration and joy. The colonial history is visible in old colorful buildings and historic sites on many islands.
What makes the Caribbean truly special is the warmth, spirit, and resilience of Caribbean people! The islands have complex histories involving indigenous peoples, colonization, slavery, and pirates, but Caribbean people have created vibrant, joyful cultures despite these challenges. They celebrate life with incredible festivals, delicious food (like jerk chicken, fresh seafood, rice and beans), and a welcoming spirit to visitors. The phrase "island time" reflects the Caribbean value of slowing down and enjoying life's simple pleasures—family, music, food, and friendship. The Caribbean islands have produced world-class athletes, musicians, and artists. From the turquoise waters to the lush rainforests hiding tropical birds and creatures, from vibrant street markets to peaceful fishing villages, from reggae rhythms to carnival celebrations, the Caribbean teaches us that joy, community, and natural beauty create a way of life that the whole world wants to experience!
