Discover Bahrain
Bahrain is a small island nation in the Persian Gulf with a big story! It is made up of more than 30 islands, and the capital city, Manama, sits on the largest one. Long ago, Bahrain was famous for its pearl divers who searched the warm Gulf waters for natural pearls. You can still visit the old souq (market) and see traditional dhows, or explore the Bahrain Pearling Trail to learn how this craft shaped the island's history.
Today Bahrain blends history and modern life. Kids can explore the ancient fortress of Qalat al Bahrain, walk along the waterfront at Bahrain Bay, and see the Tree of Life, a desert tree that has survived for centuries with no obvious water source. Bahrain is also home to Formula 1 racing, bringing visitors from around the world. With friendly people, tasty foods like flatbreads and dates, and a strong sense of heritage, Bahrain is a fascinating place to discover.
