Inaugural Brunei Week Brings Bruneian Brands to Singapore
The Brunei Economic Development Board (BEDB) launched the inaugural Brunei Week in Singapore from September 5-7, 2025, marking a significant milestone in expanding market access for Bruneian businesses. Held at Mak Besar's Grand Market at the Suntec Convention & Exhibition Centre, the event showcased 20 Brunei businesses presenting food and beverage, fashion, lifestyle, and craft products, alongside travel promotions and experiences in the Sultanate.
Her Excellency Hajah Noor Qamar Binti Haji Sulaiman, Brunei's High Commissioner to Singapore, officiated the launch, welcoming BEDB's efforts to expand market access for Brunei MSMEs (Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises) in Singapore. The event was proudly supported by Royal Brunei Airlines as the strategic partner.
Expanding Retail Channels for Bruneian Products
Brunei Week represents the culmination of BEDB's strategic efforts to establish retail channels for Bruneian products in Singapore. This facilitation began in 2023 through a partnership with Mustafa Centre, followed by retail distribution through Meat Aliyah Rizq in Woodlands earlier this year.
An upcoming e-commerce platform with distributor Lim Siang Huat, called Flavours of Brunei, will showcase a variety of Bruneian products online, making them more accessible to Singaporean consumers and to wider markets overseas. Twelve Bruneian MSMEs are now actively in one or more of these retail channels, with BEDB continuing to identify and prepare more businesses for export while developing new avenues to reach Singaporean consumers.

Strengthening Bilateral Relations
"This dedicated platform (Flavours of Brunei) will showcase a variety of Bruneian products online, making them more accessible to Singaporean consumers and to wider markets overseas," said H.E. Hjh Noor Qamar. "The Brunei Week showcase also serves as an avenue for strengthening awareness of Brunei's heritage and potential, as well as enhancing the business-to-business and people-to-people connections that underpin our bilateral relations."
Her Excellency expressed hope that these products will find a permanent spot in kitchens across Singapore as mealtime complements, noting the long-standing ties between Brunei and Singapore that both nations plan to deepen and expand.
Building Capacity Through Local Initiatives
BEDB's Deputy Director of Enterprise Development (DARe), Lim Hang Ping, encouraged participating businesses to connect with customers and partners for further market validation. DARe has been supporting local producers by providing training, space, financing, and relationship management to access markets both locally and overseas.
Initiatives such as Bruneian Made β which has its own store at The Mall and dedicated shelf space in major supermarkets nationwide β have provided businesses avenues to test and build capacity locally before graduating to export, including through Singapore channels.
